Gordon Monro — Hexagonal Divisions (Pentaptych) Prints
Computer-generated digital prints (five panels)

Hexagonal Divisions (Pentaptych) is devoted to an exploration of the hexagonal grid. In the five panels a scheme of successive division of space unfolds, based on hexagonal regions. The first panel is the "zeroth term", showing an empty hexagonal space made up of small black hexagonal cells. In each subsequent panel, white hexagonal regions are overlaid on black areas and black hexagonal regions are overlaid on white areas. The simple internal logic leads to an intricate and evocative visual result.
Five panels, each 88 x 100 cm. Edition of 6. Date: 2017.
A note on the multi-level hexagonal grid used in Hexagonal Divisions (Pentaptych).
